One Punch Man Season 2 Episode 9

SUMMARY

In One Punch Man Season 2 Episode 09 (alias Episode 21), “The Troubles of the Strongest”, Saitama stands between a badly injured Suiryu and the powerful monster Bakuzan. Will our titular hero’s streak of defeating opponents with one punch remain intact – or will something unspeakable happen? And if Saitama manages to defeat Bakuzan, what about the even more powerful Goketsu? Meanwhile, Garou is attacked by Watchdog-man. Will the poor loyal hero become another notch in the Garou’s belt?

Best Moment

If only Saitama remembered Bakuzan’s name. It wouldn’t matter, but it might have helped Bakuzan feel a little better before he was destroyed. Catch from the Hulu stream. If I can complain about this episode, it’s that my favorite moment came so early that what followed seemed somewhat diminished. Note that I say “appear”. There were many moments that I found amusing, such as the Puripuri prisoner fight or the aftermath of the battle between Gara and Watchdog-man (who is quickly becoming one of my favorite supporting characters).

Heck, I even enjoyed the philosophical conversation between King and Saitama! I’ve always been partial to honest and sincere arguments about philosophy, even if one side chooses to quote a manga. But for whatever reason, I just don’t enjoy seeing enemies try to fight Saitama. This episode picks up where the previous one left off: A badly beaten Suiryu was trying to get away from Bakuzan who was casually destroying him. The formerly arrogant playboy was reduced to calling for help from a hero—any hero. And Saitama answered.Of course, Bakuzan thinks Saitama is just another overhyped hero, so he starts beating him up (2:43).

All it does is shuffle Saitama where the other contestants in the martial arts tournament (the one who didn’t eat the monster cells) are unconscious. Of course, Saitama is completely unharmed. Bakuzan continues to attack, and Suiryu thinks that Saitama is trying to protect the fallen – when he’s actually trying to remember where he saw Bakuzan before. As the monster gets excited about its own power, Saitama basically shrugs and the top half of the monster just disappears. The acoustic guitars in the background as Saitama talks to Suiryu about winning was a nice touch.I’ve read a lot of complaints about the difference in animation style between the first and second seasons. But the two things I loved about the first season – Saitama himself and the question of what makes a hero – are still there, so I’m really enjoying this season.
