Saitama is back and One-Punch Man fans are in shock. While the manga might get a fair bit of attention, the series first began as a webcomic from a creator known simply as ONE. With the previous chapter released in 2021, many believed that the webcomic would no longer publish new volumes in favor of the manga, but chapter 142 has found its way online. The webcomic focuses more on the robotic hero known as Genos, returning with an automaton to take on a nasty army.
Although it has never been officially confirmed that the One-Punch Man webcomic has ended, it has been nearly two years since it was updated. When ONE helped compile the manga while also working on a new fighting manga known as Versus, many fans believed that Saitama and his fellow heroes would simply continue their story through other mediums. Fortunately, fans were proven wrong as the webcomic made a comeback in a dynamic way. Last year, it was confirmed that One-Punch Man would receive a third season, though details about the godlike hero have been scarce since then. While the TV series will most likely continue the fight against the Monsters Association, the anime studio that will helm the project has yet to be confirmed.
One-Punch Man: The Serious Return
Genos may be one of the strongest heroes in Saitama’s universe, but it’s clear that the robot is no match for his sensei in one-on-one combat. The only character that came close to defeating the One-Punch Man was Garou, a hero killer who gained ferocious strength by inheriting the powers of a dark god. Saitama ended up winning the battle, meaning that there has yet to be an opponent to defeat the titular character. The anime franchise is not only working on a third season of its anime, as Sony Pictures is currently working on a live-action feature film that would bring Saitama to the real world for the first time. Justin Lin, perhaps best known to fans for his directorial role in the Fast and Furious franchise, has been attached to direct, while screenwriters Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner are set to write the story. As the anime becomes more popular every year, many fans are crossing their fingers that Sony captures the cheerful aesthetic of the franchise.
